On 19 December 2022, the Roma Center/ Roma Antidiscrimination Network will host a digital presentation and discussion with Spanish Roma activist, author and lecturer Vicente Rodriguez on the Nazi mentality and the struggle for German identity after World War II.We will discuss Roma perspectives and compare the cultural universe of both Roma and the modern state of Germany. We will explore the contrast between state and stateless cosmovisions and the core culture of majority and minority populations. After Vicente’s presentation, participants can join him in the discussion. In the presentation, we aim to answer several questions, including: How did the Holocaust perpetrators see themselves and what was their idea of society and morality? And why are Roma still a stateless culture and resist assimilation into societal megastructures?
Vicente Rodriguez comes from the Kalé community, lives in Germany and has been an internationally active Roma activist since his youth.
The event will be held in English.
