2 August Romani Holocaust

August 2 – Roma Holocaust Memorial Day

I know that the world does not remember us (Romani People), but we never forget what happened to our people on 2 August. We always note this day to not be forgotten in the world ..

Today, we remember the over 1,500,000 Roma or more we dont know the real number and Sinti people who were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust. Also, today is the same; nothing has changed.

On the night of August 2, 1944, nearly 3,000 Roma or more, we don't know what really hoe many died so we have only this number — mostly women, children, and elderly people who didn't serve in the nazzi camp — were killed in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

This tragic event, known as the Zigeunernacht ("Gypsy Night"), remains one of the darkest moments in the history of the Roma people what happened in the WW2

We honor the victims and survivors of the genocide on the Romani people and the survivors who talked about the holocaust who were part of the camp, and stand against all forms of racism, discrimination, and forgetting our people

Let this day be a reminder that every life matters, and that dignity, truth, and justice must guide our future. May rest in peace, they will never be forgotten, they will be remembered( Lokhi i piv legiri)

Never forget. Never again will what happened in WW2
